Srinagar: Awami Ittehad Party Supremo Engineer Abdul Rashid has asserted that his ongoing imprisonment is due to his commitment to addressing the Kashmir dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Engineer Abdul Rashid returned to Tihar Jail following the expiration of his interim bail. In a previous media interview, Rashid denied allegations that his release was engineered to influence electoral outcomes, stating, “We will live for our people. We will die for our people.” He emphasized his focus on resolving critical issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir, such as Article 370, 35A, the status of political prisoners, and the broader Kashmir conflict.
Rashid reiterated his dedication to the region’s populace, expressing, “Their words are like the sky being blown away… We will live for our people. We will die for our people.” He also addressed claims that his participation in recent elections led to a split in votes, highlighting that his party, AIP, secured a significant share of votes despite having limited time and resources. Rashid underscored his commitment to public welfare, mentioning consultations with local officials to tackle urgent issues.
In a message directed at his supporters, Rashid encouraged resilience, stating, “Don’t worry, I am loyal to the people of J and K. I will fight for my rights, whether I am in Tihar or outside Tihar. The truth is with us… Be strong, we will fight and win.”
