Empowering Rural Women Key to Climate Resilience, Says PM’s Climate Aide


Islamabad: Romina Khurshid Alam, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, emphasized the critical role of empowering rural women through skill development in bolstering climate resilience. Speaking at the 17th Annual Rural Women Leadership Training Conference, Alam highlighted how vital rural women are to agricultural production, economic growth, food security, and social cohesion in Pakistan.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Alam advocated for greater recognition of rural women as fundamental to national development efforts. She called on stakeholders, policymakers, and communities to significantly increase their investment in initiatives aimed at empowering these women, viewing them as indispensable partners in achieving sustainable development and climate goals.



Alam’s statements underscore the government’s focus on integrating gender and environmental policies to enhance the overall resilience of communities against the backdrop of climate change.
