Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran Marks Youm-e-Istehsal, Highlights Kashmir Issues


Tehran: The Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran held an event to observe Youm-e-Istehsal, marking the abrogation of Article 35A and 370 by the Indian government on August 5, 2019, which led to demographic changes in the region of Jammu and Kashmir, referred to as illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).



According to Press Information Department, the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Muhammad Shami, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the support from Iranian leadership towards the Kashmir cause and condemning the human rights violations in the region. He detailed the historical and ongoing struggles of the Kashmiri people under Indian security forces, including severe human rights abuses since October 1947. The event also highlighted international support for Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, referencing Pakistan’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council.



The speeches included messages from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, which were read during the ceremony. A significant number of Pakistani nationals and students attended the event, showing solidarity and support for the Kashmiri population. The gathering called for global leadership and human rights organizations to press India to cease the oppression and resolve the Kashmir issue under the United Nations Security Council’s charter.
