Islamabad, August 05, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi organized an event at its premises today to refresh the memories of Pakistanis and the international community about the illegal and unilateral decision of India, taken on 5 August 2019, to alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event was attended by Pakistanis and Kashmiris.
Special messages of the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out to the audience during the event. Ambassador Afzaal Mahmood, in his brief remarks condemned India’s unilateral and illegal action of 5th August 2019 stating that these measures were in blatant violation of international law including the UN Charter, United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the 4th Geneva Convention.
Ambassador Mahmood urged the international community to play its due role to stop unabated state-sponsored human rights abuses by Indian occupation forces and resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. Ambassador Mahmood paid rich tribute to the valiant people of Kashmir and reaffirmed Pakistan’s position to seek peaceful resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He also reiterated the strong resolve of the Government and people of Pakistan to continue extending moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brethren till the effective realization of their right to self-determination, as per the UN Resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people.
A day long photo Exhibition, depicting gross human rights violations was also arranged on the sidelines of the event. A short documentary film on atrocities committed by Indian occupation forces in the IIOJK was also screened during the event. Towards the end, special prayers were offered for the Kashmiri martyrs and for an early resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
