Washington, D.C: The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C., convened a high-level dialogue aimed at examining the evolving geopolitical landscape of South Asia with a focus on Afghanistan. The event was attended by diplomats, security experts, and academics, highlighting Pakistan’s role as a frontline state in combating terrorism.
The dialogue, titled “Regional Dynamics Covering Afghanistan,” featured military attachés from the Washington Association of Military Attachés, embassy officials, regional security analysts, and academics specializing in South Asian affairs. Key speakers included Ambassador Munir Akram and Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, with Dr. Amira Jadoon moderating the session.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh underscored the complex security dynamics affecting Pakistan and the broader Middle East. He emphasized the need for consistent international support, stating that Pakistan is significantly impacted by the security situation in South Asia.
Ambassador Sheikh highlighted the human cost of terrorism, noting, “We are, as we speak, lifting dead bodies, on a regular basis, in the global combat against terrorism.” He stressed that regional peace is essential for economic progress, pointing to Pakistan’s strategic geographic connectivity.
