Embassy of Pakistan and Asia Web3 Alliance Host Event to Bolster AI and Web3 Collaboration with Japan


Tokyo: The Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo, in collaboration with the Asia Web3 Alliance Japan (AWAJ), organized an event aiming to enhance collaborative efforts between Pakistan and Japan in artificial intelligence, Web3, and startup innovation. The gathering brought together representatives from government, industry, technology companies, investors, and the startup ecosystems of both nations, signaling a joint commitment to fostering digital and entrepreneurial ties.



According to Press Information Department, the event featured a keynote address by Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan, who underscored the significance of technology and innovation in the bilateral economic relationship. He highlighted Pakistan’s burgeoning digital economy and its skilled technology workforce, advocating for stronger partnerships between the institutions, companies, investors, and startup communities of the two countries.



Mr. Hideto Kawasaki, Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Affairs, delivered a presentation titled “Creating the Digital Future: Startup Co-Creation in the AI & Web3 Era.” He discussed Japan’s vision for digital transformation, emphasizing policy developments related to AI, Web3, and digital innovation. Kawasaki pointed to the complementary strengths of the Japanese and Pakistani technology ecosystems, encouraging enhanced collaboration to construct a “Digital Silk Road” through innovation and emerging technologies.



Mr. Zarrar Hasham Khan from Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication highlighted the country’s technology talent and startup ecosystem. He stressed the importance of Pakistan’s young digital workforce and urged greater cooperation between the two nations in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.



The event concluded with a panel discussion on building Pakistan-Japan startup and innovation ecosystem partnerships. Participants discussed investor readiness, cross-cultural communication, and strategies for Pakistani startups entering the Japanese market. The panel emphasized the role of accelerator programs and international cooperation on AI governance and data security.



The Embassy of Pakistan invited its startups, technology companies, and institutions to actively engage with Japan’s innovation ecosystem. It reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating partnerships and innovation-led economic cooperation, aiming to translate discussions into tangible partnerships and investment opportunities.
