Election Commission Sets Postal Ballot Guidelines for NA-171 By-Election

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the final date for receipt of postal ballot applications for the upcoming by-election in NA-171, Dera Ghazi Khan, scheduled for 26th August 2024. This directive aims to facilitate voting for individuals who are unable to visit polling stations, such as government service members, residents abroad, and those with physical disabilities.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, the postal ballot process is designed to ensure that all eligible voters, including those detained or residing in areas without direct access to polling stations, can participate in the electoral process. The applications for postal ballots must be made on the prescribed form available on the Commission’s website or at the offices of Returning Officers.

The Commission has also specified that voters who receive postal ballots must return them as stipulated to have their votes counted. This measure is part of a broader effort to improve electoral participation and uphold the democratic process. Additionally, applications must be endorsed by the relevant official department to prevent unauthorized submissions.
