Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced October 28, 2024, as the deadline for receiving postal ballot applications for the upcoming bye-election in PB-08, Sibi. This measure aims to facilitate voting for those unable to attend their designated polling stations due to various reasons.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan, the postal ballot service is available to government employees, members of the Armed Forces, their spouses, and dependent children who are registered voters but stationed away from their voting constituency. Additionally, individuals with physical disabilities possessing a National Identity Card indicating such, issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), and those detained or in custody are also eligible to vote via postal ballot.
The commission has detailed that applications for postal ballots must be submitted using the prescribed form available from the office of Mr. Mansoor Ali Shah, Assistant Commissioner, Sibi, or downloaded from the Election Commission’s website. Those applying for a postal ballot must have their application endorsed by their department to prevent fraudulent requests. Voters who opt for postal voting will not be permitted to vote in person at the polls.
