Election Commission of Pakistan Temporarily Suspends Notifications for Three Constituencies

Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has temporarily halted the issuance of final notifications for successful candidates in the constituencies NA-15 (Mansehra), NA-47, and NA-48 (Islamabad). This decision was made by a four-member bench led by the Chief Election Commissioner, following hearings on petitions filed by candidates from these constituencies.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the petitioners, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif from NA-15, Shoaib Shaheen from NA-47, and Syed Ali Bokhari from NA-48, have appealed to the ECP to instruct the Returning Officers (ROs) not to issue consolidated results for these constituencies until the resolution of their cases. This move underscores the ECP’s commitment to ensuring the integrity and fairness of the electoral process, allowing for thorough examination and resolution of any disputes or irregularities that may arise.

The temporary suspension of notifications reflects the procedural safeguards in place to address candidates’ concerns and maintain the credibility of the electoral process. The ECP’s decision to review the cases before finalizing the election results demonstrates its dedication to upholding democratic principles and ensuring that electoral outcomes are just and transparent.
