Election Commission of Pakistan Sets Deadline for Political Parties to Submit Annual Financial Statements

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a reminder to all political parties that they must submit their consolidated financial statements for the fiscal year 2023-2024 by August 29, 2024. This submission is mandatory under the legal framework established by the Elections Act, 2017, ensuring transparency and accountability in the financial practices of political entities.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan announcement issued on 02 August 2024, the statements must include detailed accounts of annual income, expenses, sources of funds, and assets and liabilities. These reports are to be audited by a Chartered Accountant and submitted on Form-D, which is specifically designed for this purpose under the elections legislation. The form must be accompanied by a certificate from an authorized party official affirming the accuracy and compliance of the financial data with the stipulations of the Elections Act.

The ECP highlighted that the statements should be delivered in person by an authorized office bearer and must include supporting documents such as audited financial reports, bank statements from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, and a bank reconciliation statement. Additionally, forms and guidelines are available both at the Election Commission Secretariat in Islamabad and online, assisting parties in complying with the regulatory requirements.

This directive underscores the ECP’s ongoing commitment to uphold electoral integrity through rigorous financial scrutiny of political parties.
