Islamabad: In a move to enhance women’s participation in the electoral process, the Election Commission of Pakistan has initiated measures aimed at boosting the enrolment of women in the voters list. This announcement was made by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary during a session of the National Assembly.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, Chaudhary highlighted that these efforts have already led to an improvement in the registration of women voters compared to previous years. This development is seen as a step towards addressing the gender gap in electoral participation.
In other legislative matters, the National Assembly passed two bills, namely the International Examination Board Bill, 2024, and the Ghurki Institute of Science and Technology Bill, 2024. Additionally, several other bills were introduced, including the Elections Amendment Bill, 2025, and the Trade Organizations Amendment Bill, 2025.
During the session, Chaudhary also addressed the issue of national defense, asserting Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty. He praised the armed forces for their role in countering Indian aggression and emphasized the unity of the nation in defending its territorial integrity.
