Islamabad, In a significant enforcement action, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notices to seventy-one candidates and various officials for violations of the Election Code of Conduct across the country. This move underscores the ECP’s commitment to ensuring fair and transparent electoral processes.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECP has also levied fines on twenty-four candidates, along with chairmen and district chairmen of local governments, for breaches of the code of conduct. This step is part of the Commission’s efforts to maintain order and adherence to regulations during the election period.
The district monitoring teams, established by the ECP in the provinces and Islamabad, are actively performing their duties. These teams are diligently working to remove prohibited advertising materials and hoardings on a daily basis, further reinforcing the ECP’s resolve to uphold electoral integrity and compliance with established norms.
The issuance of these notices and fines reflects the Election Commission’s proactive approach to monitoring and enforcing election-related rules, essential for the credibility and fairness of the electoral process in Pakistan.
