Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a reminder to candidates participating in the upcoming 2024 bye-elections of the prohibition on public meetings and processions in the final two days leading up to the polls. This ban is part of the legal requirements to ensure a peaceful and orderly election environment.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, Section 182 of the Elections Act, 2017, is being enforced, mandating a cessation of all electioneering activities from the midnight of April 19th until the conclusion of the polls. The ECP’s notification lists multiple constituencies across the National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies where campaigning must end.

Candidates and political parties are urged to comply with these regulations, which carry significant penalties for non-adherence, including imprisonment and fines. The bye-elections are scheduled to take place on April 21st, 2024, and this quiet period is intended to provide a reflective pause for voters before casting their ballots.
