Karachi, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is set to start receiving nomination papers from today, marking the commencement of the electoral process for the forthcoming general elections.
According to Radio Pakistan, the period for submitting nomination papers extends from Wednesday through Friday. Following this, the ECP will publish the list of candidates on Saturday and initiate the scrutiny process, which is scheduled from Sunday until the 30th of this month.
The process includes critical dates for appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers, which can be filed by the 3rd of next month. These appeals will be addressed by Appellate Tribunals until the 10th of next month.
Subsequently, the ECP will display the revised list of candidates on the 11th, and candidates will have until the 12th of the next month to withdraw their papers. The Commission will then allot election symbols to parties on the 13th of next month, leading up to the polling scheduled for February 8th.
