Election 2024: ECP Unveils Preliminary List of Candidates for Minority Seats in National Assembly


Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan has revealed the preliminary list of candidates for the upcoming 2024 elections, specifically focusing on the seats reserved for minorities in the National Assembly.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the list issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan includes 37 approved candidates for the ten National Assembly seats designated for minority representation. This announcement marks a significant step in the election process, ensuring representation for minority communities in the legislative body.



The process for challenging the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers is also outlined. Appeals against the decisions of returning officers can be submitted on Tuesday, with a dedicated Appellate Tribunal set to hear these appeals until Friday. This mechanism provides a transparent and fair opportunity for all candidates to address any concerns or disputes regarding their nominations.



The Election Commission has further detailed the timeline for the finalization of candidates. The revised list will be made public on Saturday, allowing candidates to withdraw their candidature by Monday. The final list of candidates, reflecting all changes and withdrawals, will be officially unveiled on the following Tuesday, finalizing the roster of individuals contesting for minority seats in the National Assembly.
