Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, an elderly couple in the Tral area of Pulwama district is struggling with an enormous electricity bill of Rs. 5.40 lakh, reflecting the broader challenges faced by residents against governmental narratives of development.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mohammad Sultan Dar and his wife, who is deaf and mute, live in poverty in Largam village, barely managing two meals a day.

Dar shared their plight, mentioning their reliance on the generosity of villagers for sustenance. He pointed out the lack of governmental support despite promises, underscoring the gap between official statements and the actual support received by those in need.

The Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited has confirmed the couple’s large outstanding electricity bill, highlighting the financial challenges faced by the vulnerable. Calls for bill waivers and better access to basic services have surged among netizens and local residents concerned about the couple’s situation.
