EJAC holds protest, demands regularisation of daily wagers

Srinagar, June 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) held a sit-in protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar to press for regularisation of 61,000 daily wagers working in different departments in the territory.

Led by EJAC president, Muhammad Rafique Rathar, scores of EJAC leaders assembled in Press Enclave with placards in their hands demanding regularisation of some 61,000 daily wagers working in different departments of the territory and implementation of Minimum Wages Act till their regularisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Rafique Rathar said 61,000 daily wagers, adhoc, consolidated, land donors, academic arrangements, contingent paid employees and others are suffering for their regularisation and the authorities are not taking this human issue seriously.

EJAC leader said these helpless employees have been left to starvation and scores of their colleagues have lost their lives on duty and some of them have lost vital organs of their bodies and there is no departmental help neither for those dead nor those left handicapped forever. He said that these poor employees are not paid their meager wages in time which has put their families in miserable conditions.

Senior EJAC leaders who were part of the protest demonstration included Shabbir Ahmad Langoo, Khursheed Ahmad Butt, Wajahat Durani, Farooq Ahmad Khan, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Lateef Ahmad Malik, and Shabir Ahmad Butt. Meanwhile, several parties staged a protest outside Press Club, Jammu, against the price rise of essential commodities.
