Eight Major Groups Vie for PIA Privatization


Islamabad, Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced the closure of the submission period for expressions of interest (EOIs) in the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), revealing that eight major business groups have participated.



According to Press Information Department, these EOIs, submitted by individual entities and consortia, are now undergoing a pre-qualification process as outlined by the PC Ordinance 2000. Notable submissions include Fly Jinnah, Air Blue Limited, and Gerry’s International Private Limited, among others.



The Privatization Commission is set to invite the eligible institutions to the next stage of the bidding process soon. Additionally, Minister Khan inaugurated the 3-Day Pakistan Lifestyle Furniture Expo in Islamabad, emphasizing the global competitiveness of Pakistani furniture and the potential economic benefits of promoting local industries abroad.
