Egypt Launches Educational Content Studio with UNESCO and Huawei Support


Cairo, In a significant stride towards enhancing digital learning, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, under the patronage of Minister Dr. Reda Hegazy, inaugurated the Educational Content Studio at the Professional Academy for Teachers. This initiative, realized in collaboration with UNESCO and Huawei, is part of the broader “Technology-enabled Open School Systems for All” project, marking a milestone on the International Day for Digital Learning.



According to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the ceremony in the 6th of October City featured key speeches by education leaders, including Dr. Zainab Khalifa, the Director of the Professional Academy for Teachers. Dr. Khalifa outlined the academy’s efforts in professional development for teachers, facilitated by the partnership with UNESCO and Huawei, and highlighted the support from Dr. Hegazy in establishing the academy as a UNESCO second category center. This move is aimed at enhancing its institutional performance and adding an international dimension to its services.



The project, spanning Egypt, Ghana, and Ethiopia, aims to bridge schools with home-based education through digital platforms, ensuring continuity and quality of learning. It addresses educational challenges by integrating digital learning platforms that align with the curriculum and enhancing teachers’ digital competencies. Moreover, the initiative seeks to promote open education models through national digital learning policies.



Dr. Nuria Sanz, Officer in Charge of the UNESCO Office in Cairo, emphasized the critical role of the private sector, like Huawei, in supporting educational institutions. She highlighted the importance of technology in education, urging the use of the studio’s services to support teachers and students. Sanz also stressed the significance of conducting research to integrate technology effectively into education.



Huawei’s involvement, as expressed by Mr. MaBen and Mr. San Tao of Huawei Egypt, underscores the company’s commitment to digitizing the educational process. Their contributions are geared towards leveraging online learning and interactive methods to enhance the educational landscape in Egypt, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for education development.



The event also featured multimedia presentations showcasing the development of the studio and the collaborative efforts between UNESCO and Huawei in supporting inclusive schools. The “Technology-enabled Open School Systems for All” project, through initiatives like the National Distance Learning Center, has made significant strides in teacher training and the provision of digital platforms, contributing to the overall improvement of Egypt’s education sector.



This collaboration among the Egyptian Ministry of Education, UNESCO, and Huawei reflects a shared commitment to advancing digital transformation in education, ensuring that teachers and students across Egypt, Ethiopia, and Ghana can benefit from technology-enabled learning solutions.
