Karachi: The Employers Federation of Pakistan (EFP) marked the 10th iteration of its Employer of the Year Awards, emphasizing the role of responsible business practices in fostering sustainable enterprises and decent work. The ceremony was part of the National Conference on Responsible Businesses, which drew attention to ethical business strategies and their impact on social justice and sustainable development.
According to Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, the event was supported by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and attended by notable figures including the Minister of Labor, Shahid Abdul Salam Thahim. Malik Tahir Javaid, president of the EFP, highlighted the federation’s commitment to integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into corporate practices to promote fair and ethical business environments.
The conference underscored the importance of adhering to labor legislation and international standards, crucial for maintaining competitive advantages under the GSP+ framework. The EU’s Charge D’Affaires, Philippe Oliver Gross, delivered a video message stressing the EU’s advocacy for free trade in conjunction with sustainable business practices.
The ceremony recognized enterprises demonstrating exemplary practices in promoting decent work conditions and sustainable business models. It also served as a platform for advancing discussions on responsible business conduct with insights from various stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and international partners.
