Education Ministry unveils co-working spaces for young entrepreneurs

Islamabad: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) has officially launched new Software Technology Parks (STPs), also known as E-Rozgaar Centers, in various colleges around Islamabad, aiming to boost the digital economy and support young entrepreneurs.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the centers were inaugurated at Islamabad College for Girls in the F-6/2 sector, with another significant launch earlier at Islamabad Model College for Girls (PG) in the F-7/4 sector. These initiatives represent a substantial step in fostering a vibrant tech ecosystem in the capital city.

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, emphasized the importance of these centers during the opening ceremony, noting that they are critical in bridging the gap between education and industry while serving as incubators for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Member of Parliament Abdul Aleem Khan, who attended the event as chief guest, commended the establishment of these technology parks as a transformative step for young professionals in Pakistan. Secretary of MoFEPT, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, also remarked on the initiative, describing the five IT parks set up in model colleges as not just physical spaces but as communities, platforms, and catalysts for growth.

Support for the project was echoed by representatives from the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), who highlighted the strategic importance of these initiatives in positioning Pakistan competitively on the global tech stage.

The project’s initial phase saw the transformation of existing halls into modern co-working spaces within three months. These revamped areas are now equipped with air conditioning, high-speed internet, free electricity, meeting and conference rooms, new furniture, and vibrant wall murals, creating an ideal environment for freelancers and startups.

Registration for securing a free co-working space in these E-Rozgaar Centers is now open, with young entrepreneurs and freelancers encouraged to apply via the provided online link.
