Islamabad, February 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):In line with the Prime Minister’s vision of digital Pakistan and under the leadership of Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, the ministry, today has inked a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Telenor Pakistan to pilot Taleemabad in six primary level public schools to be called Taleemabad Model Virtual Schools.
This initiative of the ministry aims at extending high quality standardised digital education to the underserved students and schools. Taleemabad is the country’s first award winning EdTech platform which provides digital education based on Single National Curriculum (SNC).
At the pilot stage Telenor Pakistan will equip six Model Virtual Schools with basic IT hardware and digital management learning system for teachers, students and administration while providing them with tools and skills necessary to cope with the new normal.
While speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood has underscored, it is a great step forward helping us to realize our dream of digital Pakistan and digital education system. He reiterated his commitment to make Islamabad schools as model for rest of the country, adding that, after the success of pilot stage, this initiative would be expanded to more than 400 schools of Islamabad.
Commenting on the development, Kamal Ahmed, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Telenor Pakistan said, “With over 23 million out-of-school children across the country, we believe it is our responsibility to innovate and introduce sustainable solutions that enable masses through digitalisation and can stand the test of time.
We are humbled and pleased to have joined hands with the Ministry of Education and Professional Training through Taleemabad app to bring online the Single National Curriculum and advance together towards the vision of a Digital Pakistan.
Furthering its commitment to reduce inequalities Telenor Pakistan aims to take digital learning to one million out of school children by 2023. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood, SAPM on National Heritage and Culture Shahzad Nawaz, Parliamentary Secretary education Ms. Wajiha Qamar and other higher authorities from the ministry and Telenor Pakistan. The Memorandum of understanding was signed by Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, the Additional Secy of the Ministry and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Kamal Ahmed from Telenor Pakistan.
