ED opposes bail to Shabbir Shah

New Delhi, June 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed the bail plea of illegally detained senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah who has been seeking his release in a false case registered against him. Shabbir Ahmed Shah has sought bail maintaining in his plea that due to the current pandemic situation there was no likelihood of the trial being completed any time soon in a false money laundering case filed against him. Shabbir Shah’s advocate MS Khan in an earlier hearing had maintained before the Delhi court that the maximum punishment prescribed for the offence of money laundering was seven years, and his client had already spent more than half of that period.

Advocate Qausar Khan, also representing Shabbir Shah, added that the APHC leader was entitled to be released on bail as per law. However, the ED official appearing before the Delhi court opposed granting of bail to the senior Hurriyat leader. The APHC leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah was arrested on July 25, 2017 and since then he is in custody.
