Karachi, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has categorically denied recent media reports suggesting an increase in the number of constituencies in the ancestral district of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). The ECP clarified that these reports are baseless and stressed its commitment to impartiality and fairness.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan, as reported by Radio Pakistan, the constituency of the Chief Election Commissioner, NA82, is situated within the boundaries of District Sargodha, and there have been no changes or additions to its constituencies. The spokesperson emphasized that the commission does not create additional constituencies based on personal requests or interests of any individual, including highranking officials.
The spokesperson further asserted that the Election Commission operates independently and will not yield to any external pressure or attempts at blackmail. This statement comes amid speculation and claims in the media regarding potential biases and manipulation in the constituency delimitation process.
The ECP’s response underscores its role as a neutral body committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process in Pakistan, ensuring that constituency boundaries and allocations are determined in accordance with legal and constitutional requirements, without undue influence from any quarters.
