ECP Orders Re-polling in Three Constituencies Due to Election Irregularities

Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued orders for re-polling at fifty-three polling stations across three constituencies after incidents of election irregularities were reported. This decisive action aims to ensure the integrity of the electoral process in the affected national and provincial assembly constituencies, specifically NA-88 Khushab, PS-18 Ghotki-I, and PK-90 Kohat-I.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, an ECP spokesperson announced that the commission had withheld the results for these constituencies due to the wastage of polling materials, which compromised the fairness of the voting process. The incidents prompting this measure included the burning of polling materials by a crowd at the Returning Officer’s office in NA-88 and the snatching and destruction of materials by unknown miscreants in PS-18 Ghotki and PK-90 Kohat.

The ECP has scheduled the re-polling for Thursday, with the results of these constituencies to be announced after the 15th of this month. Specifically, re-polling will occur in twenty-six polling stations in NA-88 Khushab, two in PS-18 Ghotki-I, and twenty-five in PK-90 Kohat-I.

This step by the ECP reflects its commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring that every vote is counted in a free and fair manner. The commission’s swift response to these incidents highlights the importance of maintaining transparency and credibility throughout the election process.
