ECP Opens Nomination Process for 2024 General Elections

Karachi, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the commencement of the nomination process for the upcoming general elections, scheduled for 8th February next year. The process of receiving nomination papers will start tomorrow and continue until Friday, 22nd December 2023.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, as reported by Radio Pakistan, the ECP will publish the list of candidates on the 23rd of December. This will be followed by a scrutiny process of the nomination papers from the 24th to the 30th of this month.

Candidates who wish to challenge the acceptance or rejection of their nomination papers can file appeals until the 3rd of the following month. These appeals will be decided by Appellate Tribunals by the 10th of the month. The revised list of candidates will then be displayed on the 11th, and candidates will have until the 12th to withdraw their nomination papers if they choose to do so.

The Election Commission has scheduled the allotment of election symbols to parties for the 13th of the following month, setting the stage for the elections to be held on the 8th of February.

This announcement marks a significant step in the preparation for the 2024 general elections in Pakistan, outlining a clear timeline for the nomination and scrutiny process, as well as the subsequent phases leading up to the polling day.
