ISLAMABAD, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed preparations to offer voters detailed information about their designated polling stations via an SMS service to 8300, starting from tomorrow. This initiative is part of ECP’s efforts to facilitate voters in the upcoming elections by providing easy access to critical voting information.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the spokesman for the ECP announced that voters could obtain information about their polling stations and other related voting details by sending their National Identity Card number to 8300 via SMS. This service is set to begin tomorrow and is aimed at enhancing voter convenience and participation in the electoral process.
The SMS service is designed to provide voters with the name of their assigned polling station, a crucial step in ensuring that citizens can exercise their voting rights efficiently and without confusion on election day. This move is particularly significant in streamlining the voting process and aiding in voter turnout.
It was also highlighted by the spokesperson that a service fee of two rupees will be charged per SMS. This nominal fee is part of the operational cost of the service, ensuring its sustainability and effectiveness.
The launch of this SMS service by the ECP represents a significant stride towards employing technology in the electoral process. By leveraging digital tools, the ECP aims to make the voting process more accessible and voter-friendly, thereby strengthening the democratic framework of Pakistan.
