ECP Implements Technology-Driven System for Efficient Election ResultsElections 2024: Nationwide turnout at polling stations marks robust faith in democracy

Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has introduced a technology-based Election Management System (EMS) aimed at streamlining the finalization of polling results, As per Nighat Siddique, a spokesperson for the ECP. During a discussion on Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel concerning the General Elections 2024, Siddique highlighted the efficient performance of presiding officers and election staff, as well as the critical role of the EMS in enhancing the electoral process in Islamabad today.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the EMS facilitates close coordination between provincial and district monitoring teams and the Central Monitoring System, enabling continuous assessment of the election proceedings. Siddique noted a high complaints redressal ratio of approximately 90 percent, reflecting the system’s effectiveness in addressing electoral grievances.

Furthermore, Siddique mentioned the participation of international observers from the Commonwealth, European Union, and other regions in monitoring the polling stations, underscoring the global interest in Pakistan’s electoral process. She also reported satisfactory voter turnout, with a notable increase in the number of women voters participating in the elections, fulfilling their national duty.

Siddique offered guidance to voters, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that ballot papers are properly signed and stamped by the Assistant Presiding Officer before submission. She clarified the use of green ballot papers for National Assembly votes, which are to be placed in the green box, and white ones for the provincial assembly, designated for the white box. Additionally, she assured that voters present within the premises of polling stations by the closing time of 5:00 pm would be permitted to cast their votes, ensuring broad participation in the electoral process.

The implementation of the Election Management System by the ECP signifies a significant step towards enhancing the transparency, efficiency, and integrity of the election process in Pakistan.
