ECP Commences Scrutiny of Nomination Papers for Upcoming General Elections

Karachi, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has initiated the scrutiny of nomination papers submitted by candidates for the upcoming general elections, a process set to continue until Saturday.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this phase of election preparation involves a thorough examination of the submitted nomination papers. The ECP has outlined a detailed timeline for the subsequent steps in the electoral process. Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed until the third of next month. Decisions on these appeals are scheduled to be finalized by the tenth.

The ECP plans to display the final list of candidates on the eleventh of next month. Following this, candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their nominations by the twelfth. This step is crucial in finalizing the list of contestants for the electoral race.

On the thirteenth of next month, the ECP will allot electoral symbols to the candidates, marking an important milestone in the lead-up to the general elections. The allotment of symbols is a key aspect of the electoral process, as these symbols play a significant role in voter recognition and party representation.

The ECP has confirmed that polling for the general elections is scheduled for February 8. This date marks the culmination of the electoral process, where citizens will cast their votes to elect their representatives.

The ongoing scrutiny and subsequent steps underscore the ECP’s commitment to conducting a transparent and orderly election, ensuring that all candidates meet the necessary legal and regulatory requirements.
