Karachi, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is set to commence the process of receiving nomination papers from tomorrow until Friday, 22nd December 2023, for the general elections scheduled for 8th February next year.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECP will publish the list of candidates on 23rd December and initiate the scrutiny process from 24th to 30th of this month. This period allows for a thorough examination of the nomination papers submitted by candidates.
The process includes key dates and procedures that candidates and political parties must adhere to. Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed until 3rd January of the next month. These appeals will be addressed by Appellate Tribunals, which are set to make their decisions by 10th January.
Following the appeal process, a revised list of candidates will be displayed on 11th January, giving candidates the opportunity to withdraw their papers until 12th January. Subsequently, the Election Commission will allocate election symbols to the parties on 13th January.
The announcement of this schedule marks a critical phase in the preparation for the general elections, ensuring a systematic and transparent process leading up to the polling day on 8th February.
