ECP Announces Revised Election Schedule for Reserved Seats

Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced revisions to the election schedule for reserved seats, including those for women and non-Muslims in the National Assembly and the provincial assemblies.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the revised schedule sets the last date for the scrutiny of nomination papers as the 13th of the following month. Furthermore, candidates wishing to file appeals against the decisions of the Returning Officer must do so by the 16th of January 2024.

The ECP will publish a revised list of candidates on the 20th of the next month. Candidates have until the 22nd of the same month to withdraw their nominations. Following this, the final list of contesting candidates will be issued on the 23rd of January 2024.

This revision of the election schedule is a crucial step in the preparation for the upcoming elections, ensuring a systematic and organized process for the selection of candidates for the reserved seats. These seats are pivotal in representing the interests of women and minority communities, ensuring their adequate representation in the legislative assemblies.
