ECP Announces Reserved Seat Winners for Punjab and Sindh Assemblies

Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially published the names of candidates who have returned to fill the seats reserved for women and non-Muslims in the Provincial Assemblies of Punjab and Sindh. This step is part of the commission’s mandate to ensure representation for these groups in the legislative bodies.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECP released separate notifications detailing the successful candidates. In the Punjab Assembly, 42 candidates have been returned for women’s reserved seats and five for non-Muslim reserved seats. For the Sindh Assembly, the commission has notified the names of 27 women candidates and eight non-Muslim candidates who have secured reserved seats.

This announcement underscores the ECP’s commitment to fostering an inclusive political environment by ensuring that women and non-Muslim minorities have a voice in the provincial legislatures. The allocation of reserved seats is a critical mechanism in Pakistan’s electoral system to promote diversity and representation in governance.
