ECP Announces January 22 Deadline for Postal Ballot Applications in Pakistan

Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced January 22 as the final date for receiving applications for postal ballot papers for the upcoming general elections to the national and four provincial assemblies.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this facility is available under the law to government employees, members of the armed forces, their spouses and children who are registered voters but stationed away from their constituencies. Additionally, persons with physical disabilities, unable to travel, and those in prison or custody are also eligible to vote via postal ballot.

The application forms for the postal ballot can be obtained from the respective returning officers or downloaded from the Election Commission’s website at ecp.gov.pk. It is important to note that voters who opt for postal ballots will not be entitled to vote in person at the polling stations.

This announcement is part of the ECP’s efforts to facilitate inclusive voting options for those unable to be present at their designated polling locations on election day.
