Islamabad, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized the allocation of reserved seats for women and non-Muslims in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies, with a significant number of seats distributed among various political parties. In a recent announcement, the ECP detailed the allotment of twenty reserved seats for women from Punjab and fourteen from Sindh in the National Assembly, while also notifying the winners of reserved seats in the Balochistan Assembly.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECP spokesperson revealed that the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) received the majority of the reserved seats for women in the National Assembly, securing seventeen seats. Additionally, one seat each was allocated to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the Pakistan Muslim League (PML), and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party. In Sindh, the PPP was allocated ten reserved seats for women, and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) received four.
The notification also included the winners of eleven reserved seats for women and three seats for non-Muslims in the Balochistan Assembly. The PPPP, PML-N, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-P) were among the parties securing seats, with specific members named as winners. Notably, Ghazala Gola Begum, Meena, and Shehnaz Umrani from PPPP, Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Hadia Nawaz, and Rubaba Khan from PML-N, and Shahida Rauf and Safia from JUI-P were declared victorious for the reserved seats for women. Salma Bibi and Ume Kalsoom represented the Awami National Party (ANP) and National Party (NP) respectively in the Balochistan Assembly.
The ECP’s announcement also highlighted the winners of reserved seats for non-Muslims in the Balochistan Assembly, with Sanjay Kumar (PPPP), Patrick Sant Masih (PML-N), and Ravi Pahuja (JUI-P) notified as winners, underscoring the ECP’s commitment to inclusivity in the electoral process.
