Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has announced a series of government reforms designed to steer Pakistan’s economy towards stability and growth. The initiatives target a broad spectrum of economic sectors, with a focus on inflation reduction, employment, and technological advancement.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar, speaking in Lahore, outlined the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens, detailing a structured approach to economic management. This includes setting specific goals for ministries, enhancing self-accountability in government operations, and fostering conditions conducive to reducing unemployment and stimulating growth.

Tarar highlighted key areas such as the digital economy, including plans to facilitate services like PayPal to boost Information Technology exports. Additionally, efforts to combat terrorism and smuggling through modernized strategies in the Ministry of Interior and privatizing Pakistan Airlines were discussed as measures to augment government revenue.

The Information Minister also touched on the broader fiscal strategy, mentioning a cabinet-wide commitment to austerity, including foregone salaries and perks, aimed at stabilizing the national currency and curbing inflation. Addressing the challenge of the undocumented economy, he stressed the imperative to integrate it into the formal tax network, with a committee already in place to recommend further expenditure controls.
