ECNEC Approves Eleven Development Projects Across Pakistan


Islamabad: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has approved eleven significant development projects throughout Pakistan, spanning sectors such as energy, roads, water, health, urban development, and forensic science.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting, which brought together key federal and provincial officials, focused on enhancing infrastructure and public welfare. Among the approved initiatives is the construction of the 40.8 MW Koto Hydropower Project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as several projects in Balochistan, including the rehabilitation of Lasbela Canal, a water supply scheme for Gwadar from Mirani Dam, and the construction of the Buleda-Proom and Proom-Chedgai roads.



In addition, the Committee sanctioned the development of 100 MW distributed solar photovoltaic plants in Gilgit-Baltistan, installation of reactive power compensation devices in the national grid network, the Punjab Urban Land Systems Enhancement Project (PULSE), and the construction and upgrading of the Dirgi-Shahbozai-Taunsa Sharif road. Further approvals were granted for the establishment of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Hospital in Tarlai, Islamabad, and a purpose-built laboratory for the National Forensic Agency.



Deputy Prime Minister Dar highlighted the necessity of completing these projects on time and within budget. He urged relevant authorities to uphold financial discipline and eliminate procedural obstacles, underscoring the projects’ role in serving public welfare. The meeting included attendance from various federal and provincial ministers and senior officials, reflecting a coordinated approach to national development.
