Karachi, The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet has sanctioned a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) of 57 billion rupees to K-Electric. This financial support aims to bolster the operational requirements of the power sector, ensuring enhanced and sustainable power distribution.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this decision was reached during an ECC meeting in Islamabad, presided over by Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar. The committee’s approval marks a significant step towards addressing the power supply challenges faced by K-Electric, a key player in Pakistan’s energy sector.
Furthermore, the ECC approved a proposal from the Power Division to settle payables to Government-Owned Power Plants on the same terms as Independent Power Producers (IPPs). In line with this decision, ECC has directed the release of 262 billion rupees to public sector power plants through a technical supplementary grant. This move is expected to bring about a balance in payments and operational capacities between state-owned and private power plants, contributing to a more stable power supply in the country.
