Islamabad, March 15, 2022 (PPI-OT): The Economic Coordination Committee has approved a massive Ramzan Relief Package involving subsidy of 8.2 billion rupees to provide relief to the people during the upcoming holy month. The approval was granted at ECC meeting held in Islamabad on Tuesday with Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin in the chair.

The package will cover the whole population rather than only 20 million households registered with Ehsaas Rashan Riayat Programme. ECC allowed 5,700 rupees per 40 kilogrammes threshold intervention price of seed-cotton. It also approved initially procuring two million bales of cotton at intervention price with a direction that quantity would be reviewed on monthly basis.

The meeting also approved Technical Supplementary Grant worth 200 million rupees to Pakistan Military Accounts Department for conversion of Pensioners to Direct Credit System. Besides, Technical Supplementary Grant of worth 3500 million rupees was approved in favour of Higher Education Commission for the Project titled “Pak University of Engineering and Emerging Technologies.
