ECC Approves Prime Minister’s Relief Package and Industry Status for Logistics Sector


Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, led by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened today at the Finance Division to deliberate on several key economic proposals. The committee granted approval for the continuation of the Prime Minister’s Relief Package for the fiscal year 2024-25 and recognized the Warehousing and Logistic Sector as an industry.



According to Ministry of Finance announcement issued on 15 August 2024, the ECC’s meeting saw participation from high-level officials including the Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, among others. The committee’s decisions are aimed at providing sustained economic relief to the public and fostering growth in strategic economic sectors.



The approved Prime Minister’s Relief Package, presented by the Ministry of Industries and Production, includes revisions in pricing and subsidies provided through the Utility Stores Corporation, designed to ease financial burdens on consumers amidst economic fluctuations. Additionally, the ECC’s endorsement of the Warehousing and Logistic Sector as an industry is expected to stimulate investment, improve infrastructure, and enhance operational efficiencies within this critical sector.



These decisions reflect the government’s broader strategy to stabilize the economy, support industry growth, and ensure the provision of affordable necessities to the public.
