ECC Approves Over Rs8 Billion for Ministries, Settles Liabilities


Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has sanctioned more than eight billion rupees for several ministries, including allocations for defense, education, and broadcasting. The committee, led by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, also addressed outstanding liabilities with Huawei Technologies for the Safe City Project Islamabad.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECC approved a Technical Supplementary Grant of 1.945 billion rupees for the Ministry of Defence, 5.276 million rupees for the National Commission on the Status of Women, 2,583.124 million rupees for Information and Broadcasting, 1.5 billion rupees for Federal Education and Professional Training, and 650.357 million rupees for the Ministry of Interior. Additionally, the committee approved the settlement of 1.72 billion rupees with Huawei Technologies to cover the remaining contract cost for the Safe City Project.



The committee further allocated 1.679 billion rupees to continue the Prime Minister’s Relief Package through the Utility Stores Corporation for the current fiscal year. In a move to regulate imports, the ECC banned the import of Polyol blended with HCFC-141b and HCFC-142b starting at the end of this month. Moreover, the ECC approved a proposal to recognize Warehousing as an industry, marking a strategic decision in economic planning.
