ECC Allocates Wheat Stocks and Approves Over Rs. 35 Billion in Technical Grants

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb presided over an Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting, which resulted in the allocation of domestic and imported wheat stocks by PASSCO and the approval of over Rs. 35 billion in technical supplementary grants across various governmental departments. The session involved key cabinet ministers, including the Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, and others, along with virtual participation from the Governor SBP and Chairman SECP.

According to Press Information Department, the ECC meticulously discussed the allocation of wheat for the Food Year 2024-25 and directed quality testing before distribution. Notable decisions included a Rs. 252.711 million grant to the Capital Development Authority for civic services in prime ministerial offices and a significant Rs. 1.8 billion grant to the Ministry of Defence for aircraft engine overhauls.

The committee further approved Rs. 2.939 billion for the Director General Immigration and Passports for the purchase of e-Passport Personalization systems. Additional funds of Rs. 30 billion were allocated to the Government of Sindh for the Flood Response Emergency Housing Project, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing urgent housing needs post-flood. Other approvals featured a Rs. 376 million allocation for the National Accountability Bureau and Rs. 226.720 million to enhance trade missions in China, demonstrating the ECC’s broad scope of fiscal oversight and strategic financial planning for national development and accountability initiatives.
