Islamabad, November 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says Early Warning System has become imperative for underdeveloped and climate-affected countries for adaptation and resilience planning. He expressed these views while participating in a high level round table “Early Warning for All Executive Plans Launch” in Sharm Al Sheikh, Egypt on Monday. The Prime Minister said that the EWS works as an important communication system for people living in backward areas to give them early warning about natural calamities.
The Prime Minister said use of advanced technology and the early warning chain will help improve the four elements of disaster risk awareness, risk detection, prevention and preparedness. Referring to the benefits of the early warning system in Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that due to this system thousands of lives were saved from the glacial lake outburst flood caused by prolonged heat wave in the country this summer.
