Dukki: A pivotal meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kalimullah Kakar convened the District Narcotics Control Cell to deliberate strategies for combating the drug menace in the region. The assembly saw participation from key local officials and department representatives, focusing on a multifaceted approach to drug prevention and awareness.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the session brought together Assistant Commissioner Loni Biberg Lahri, DSP Muhammad Akbar, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) representatives, the Excise and Taxation Officer, District Zaku? Officer, Social Welfare Officer, Sports Officer among others from various departments. The collective aimed to address the social challenges posed by drug abuse, which impairs individual health and undermines societal structures.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the detrimental effects of drug use including health complications, social consequences, and economic losses. They proposed organizing educational programs in schools to alert youth about the dangers of drugs, highlighting the need for immediate and robust community involvement in awareness campaigns.
Furthermore, the creation of treatment facilities for drug addicts, to be managed by the Social Welfare Department, was underscored as a critical component of the rehabilitation effort. Legal measures against drug traffickers were also a focal point, with plans to set up special teams to clamp down on drug production and sales.
Deputy Commissioner Kakar emphasized the urgency of implementing these strategies and stressed the collaboration of all departments to draft a comprehensive action plan. He highlighted the necessity of a united front to ensure the effectiveness of the drug eradication campaign, aiming for a healthier future and a safer social environment.
