Drones, sniffer dogs, sharp-shooters pressed into service amid multi-layered curbs IN IIOJK 

Srinagar, January 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the entire Kashmir valley and parts of Jammu region have been converted into a military garrison amid imposition of curfew-like restrictions in the name of security on the eve of India’s Republic Day.

People are forced to stop at check-posts, mushroomed in every nook and corner of the territory, and subjected to vigorous frisking and checking. Forces have been deployed in massive numbers around the venues of the January 26 functions across the Valley.

Indian forces have intensified aerial surveillance and random search operations. They have sealed all the routes leading to the Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar, the main venue of the Indian R-Day official celebrations. All major towns and districts of the Kashmir Valley have been put on high alert to prevent anti-India protests on India’s Republic Day celebrations, tomorrow. Roads leading to the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu, where the Republic Day celebrations would be held in the region, have also been sealed.

The route leading towards the venue has been sealed, in an attempt, to maintain a strong security cover for VIPs and VVIPs. “This year too, we are alert with armed personnel maintaining a strict vigil in north, south and central Kashmir, Indian paramilitary CRPF spokesman Abhi Ram Pankaj told media men.

The official further added, during 26th January official celebrations, Indian forces have also been laying surprise door-to-door search operations in various parts of the city. Sniffer dogs, anti-sabotage checking, sharp-shooters on high rise buildings, surprise Nakas and CCTV surveillance are being used to maintain vigil in the Srinagar city. The city is also being monitored with drones and new bunkers and barricades have been placed at various parts of the city. Three-layered security arrangements have been put in place. Drones are also being used. The areas are being dominated and frisking and checking of vehicles is being done.

So-called heightened security has been also raised in Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts. In Baramulla and Sopore, Indian paramilitary and police forces are carrying out searches of all the passenger and private vehicles. Similar reports have also been received from south Kashmir.

Indian paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) has sounded a high alert on the Working boundary in Jammu. BSF in an official statement said that keeping in mind the present security scenario and intelligence inputs on the eve of Republic Day, BSF Jammu has been on high alert on Jammu border. A joint patrolling and exercise are also being conducted along with Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Police.
