Dr. Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences Inaugurated After Long Delay

Lahore, In a long-awaited development, the Dr. Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences was officially inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, marking the end of a 17-year delay. This significant event represents a major advancement in dental healthcare facilities in the region.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Chief Minister Naqvi unveiled the portrait of Dr. Fatima Jinnah in the reception corridor and conducted a detailed tour of the institute. He inspected various facilities, including the online digital system, radiation control room, waiting area, dental implant sections, and sterilized rooms, all part of the state-of-the-art treatment facilities at the institute.

Chief Minister Naqvi expressed satisfaction with the institute’s capabilities, highlighting the commitment of 435 doctors working in shifts. The institute is equipped with 120 beds and 90 units, reflecting a significant capacity for dental care. Naqvi contrasted the institute’s facilities with those he observed during a previous visit to DeMont Hospital, underscoring the importance of the Dr. Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences in providing high-quality dental treatments.

During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Naqvi addressed the project’s delays, noting the initial cost of Rs 80 crore and the final expense of Rs 4.5 billion. He acknowledged the swift action taken to expedite the project’s completion and praised the dedication of the doctors and the Department of Communication and Works for their collective efforts.

Naqvi noted that out of the 120 beds at the institute, 90 are allocated for OPD patients, and the facility includes additional amenities like a hostel. He lauded the institute as the best in Punjab, boasting advanced machinery comparable to the best in Pakistan.

The Chief Minister also spoke about ongoing healthcare projects, assuring the completion of upgrades at hospitals, including Manawan Cancer Hospital and Mayo Hospital, within the next few days. He provided updates on various infrastructure projects, expressing optimism about the timely completion of the Imamiya Colony project and the opening of the Band road project.

In his remarks, Chief Minister Naqvi affirmed his control over election-related matters and his continuous communication with the Election Commissioner of Punjab. The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr. Javed Akram, Chief Secretary, Secretary Health, Secretary Communication and Works, Secretary Information, Commissioner Lahore Division, CCPO, and other officials.
