DIG Islamabad Orders Enhanced Security Protocols for Muharram

Islamabad: In a bid to bolster security during Muharram, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Islamabad has mandated stringent measures following a high-level meeting. Attendees included senior law enforcement officials such as the SSP Investigation, SSP Operations, and other key police officers.

The DIG directed that sensitive areas across the city should undergo regular patrols, with proactive search and combing operations to be conducted. It was also decreed that all religious processions would be monitored using Safe City cameras to ensure safety and order.

Highlighting a zero-tolerance stance against aerial firing, the DIG warned that any SHO whose jurisdiction witnesses such incidents would face strict departmental consequences. The Command and Control Room has been activated to facilitate effective coordination and real-time monitoring of events.

Security checks will be intensified at city entry and exit points, as well as at places of worship and Imambargahs. Surveillance systems are set to be enhanced, with all participants in processions and gatherings required to pass through metal detector screenings.

In addition, the Islamabad Traffic Police will be on duty around the clock to maintain smooth traffic flow throughout Muharram.

The DIG emphasized that the protection and security of citizens remain the foremost priority of the Islamabad Police, alongside ensuring the provision of essential facilities.
