Srinagar, The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has publicly decried the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting a series of abuses and violations committed against the local population.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a statement from DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal detailed the organization’s serious concerns regarding the oppressive measures being enforced by the Indian occupation authorities. These include the harassment of Hurriyat leaders and their families, unjust termination of Kashmiri employees, and the illegal confiscation of civilian properties.
The spokesperson pointed to the Narendra Modi-led Indian government’s implementation of stringent laws that have facilitated a climate of fear and repression within the region. Innocent civilians, Iqbal noted, find themselves routinely harassed and humiliated during cordon and search operations, while extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances are perpetrated with alarming regularity.
The DFP’s appeal extends to international human rights organizations and the global community, urging them to intervene and help facilitate a resolution to the enduring conflict in Kashmir. Iqbal stressed that the aspiration for freedom from Indian rule remains unyielding in the face of relentless intimidation tactics.
Furthermore, the party condemned the ongoing illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders, human rights defenders, journalists, and activists, calling for their immediate and unconditional release. The DFP’s statement serves as a stark reminder of the critical human rights crisis unfolding in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
