Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), headed by detained senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Shabir Ahmed Shah, has appealed to the international community to intervene in the ongoing violence and human rights abuses in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal highlighted the killing of two Kashmiri youth by Indian troops in the Poonch area, describing it as a tragic event. He emphasized the persistent killing of innocent civilians by occupation forces without accountability.
The spokesperson called for global intervention to stop the bloodshed of innocent Kashmiris, urging the United Nations and other relevant bodies to address the severe situation in the disputed region and hold India accountable for the actions of its forces in IIOJK.
The DFP representative also raised concerns about the ongoing detention of party chairman Shabir Ahmed Shah and other Kashmiri prisoners held in various Indian jails. He criticized their imprisonment as a means of suppressing political dissent in the area.
Expressing concern over Shabir Ahmed Shah’s health, the spokesperson appealed to international human rights organizations to engage with the Indian government to ensure the safety and prompt release of all Kashmiri detainees imprisoned under what he termed fabricated charges.
