Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has voiced serious concerns about the intensifying political and human rights crisis in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The party’s statements highlight fears of escalating violence and the potential for nuclear conflict in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal issued a statement expressing deep worry about the ongoing harassment of Kashmiri leaders and civilians by Indian authorities, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and the targeting of families of Hurriyat leaders. The spokesman criticized the Modi government’s tactics, describing them as despotic and a threat to regional stability.
Iqbal emphasized the urgent need for global intervention to resolve the Kashmir dispute, warning of the potential for nuclear escalation in South Asia if the conflict remains unaddressed. He called on international human rights organizations and the global community to actively engage in finding a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue to prevent further human rights abuses and ensure regional peace.
The DFP’s appeal extends to religious scholars and international policymakers, urging them to speak out against the suppression of Kashmiri cultural and religious identity and to push for the release of detained leaders and activists in the region.
