Deputy Prime Minister Urges OIC to Address Rising Tensions

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar engaged in discussions with OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, highlighting the escalating tensions following India’s recent strikes, which he described as a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

During the conversation, Mr. Dar emphasized the severity of the situation, pointing out that the strikes have not only resulted in civilian casualties but also pose a significant threat to peace and stability in the region. He characterized the actions as a blatant act of war.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the OIC to intensify its efforts to protect the rights of Muslims in India and in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He raised concerns about the increase in Islamophobia and hate-motivated violence, especially in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.

In response, Secretary General Taha expressed condolences for the loss of innocent lives and wished for the swift recovery of those injured. He reaffirmed the OIC’s support for Pakistan and its solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Mr. Taha also stressed the importance of a just resolution to the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir conflict.
